Macon-Hall administration and staff ask that parents be health conscious when packing lunches for their students. Please consider sending your scholar to school with a refillable water bottle to be kept in the classroom and taken to lunch. We strongly discourage students from eating candy, soda, energy drinks, and junk food at all during the school day. Studies have shown that eating 3 meals a day with frequent intakes of fresh fruits and vegetables relate to good school performance. On the other hand, consuming processed foods such as soft drinks, instant noodles, fast foods, and sugary snacks is correlated with poor school performance (1). Please discuss the importance of appropriate nutrition and a well-balanced meal, including the effects of sugar on the brain and body, with your scholars!
